Medina City Break, Saudi Arabia
3 DAYS

Medina
City Break

Day 1. Arrival & Al Masjid An Nabawi (Exterior)

Arrive in Medina — the second holiest city in Islam, the city of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Non-Muslim visitors appreciate the city’s spiritual atmosphere from the exterior. View the magnificent Al Masjid An Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) from the outside — its iconic green dome and soaring minarets are among the most recognisable in the Islamic world. Explore the surrounding historic district and the Quba neighbourhood. Overnight in Medina.

Day 2. Masjid Al Qiblatain, Mount Uhud & Dar Al Medina

Visit Masjid Al Qiblatain — the ‘Mosque of the Two Qiblas,’ historically significant as the mosque where the direction of prayer was changed from Jerusalem to Mecca during the Prophet’s lifetime. Continue to Mount Uhud — the site of the pivotal Battle of Uhud (625 CE), one of the most important early battles of Islam. Afternoon at the Dar Al Medina Museum — an excellent museum of the city’s history and culture. Overnight in Medina.

Day 3. Date Farm & Departure

Morning visit to one of Medina’s famous date farms in the Al-Aqiq Valley — the region’s Ajwa dates are among the world’s most prized, and the experience includes a tour of the date palms, harvesting demonstrations and tasting. Browse the Al Noor Mall and Medina’s markets for premium-quality dates and local honey. Transfer to Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport for onward travel.

FOOD

Madini Rice

Madini Rice

Consists of white steamed rice topped with tender meat, served in a rich and flavorful broth that gives it a distinctive red color; the chicken (or lamb) is marinated in a blend of spices, then cooked until tender in a pot with rice that is infused with the flavors of the spices and the meat.

Mutabbaq

Mutabbaq

A popular street food, a flatbread stuffed with different kinds of filling that is folded into a square and pan-fried; the origin of this dish is thought to be Yemen; the word Mutabbaq closely translates to folded in Arabic.

Shureik

Shureik

One of the oldest and most famous baked goods; it is made with white flour, yeast, chickpea flour, oil and sesame seeds, using a unique technique for kneading and fermentation, and baked in a stone oven, which gives it a distinctive color, taste, and aroma, unlike other breads.
