Dornbirn
City Break

Day 1. Arrival & Lake Constance

Arrive in Dornbirn — the largest city in Vorarlberg and Austria's most westerly province, at the foot of the Bregenzerwald mountains on the western edge of the Rhine Valley, just 10 km from Lake Constance (Bodensee). Vorarlberg is one of Austria's most progressive regions, celebrated internationally for its extraordinary contemporary architecture and craftsmanship. Drive to Bregenz on the shore of Lake Constance (8 km) — the festival city, home of the famous Bregenz Festspiele (Bregenzer Festspiele), where world-famous operas are performed on an extraordinary floating stage on the lake every summer. Evening stroll along the lakefront. Overnight in Dornbirn/Bregenz.

Day 2. Bregenzerwald Cheese Route & Rappenlochschlucht

After breakfast, drive into the Bregenzerwald — one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys in Austria, famous for its extraordinary cheese (Bergkäse), its remarkable traditional wooden architecture and its world-leading contemporary architectural culture. Follow the Käsestraße (Cheese Road) — visiting working mountain farms (Alpkäsereien) producing extraordinary alpine cheeses. Visit the extraordinary Rappenlochschlucht — a spectacular limestone gorge with the highest waterfall in Vorarlberg (Alplochschlucht, 70 m). Overnight in Dornbirn/Bregenz.

Day 3. Pfänder Mountain & Departure

Morning: ascend the Pfänder (1,064 m) above Bregenz by cable car — the local mountain with extraordinary views over Lake Constance, the Rhine Valley and the Bregenzerwald Alps, and an Alpine Wildlife Park with wild boar, deer and roe deer. Transfer to Friedrichshafen Airport (Germany, 25 km) or Zurich Airport (100 km).
